The first ray of the sun in this temple falls on the Shivalinga located in the womb of the temple. The temple's architecture is such that the first ray of dawn falls on the Shivling of Lord Bholenath, tearing the small door of the observatory, mandap and the womb. As the sun rises, we pray to Bholenath and ask for permission to spread light in the world.
In the past, this temple was surrounded by eight small temples and a huge fourdivari. Turkish invaders attacked this temple in 1336-38 and built a mosque near it with its remains.
